Analyze paper

During the first few weeks of class, we’ve read Demon Stories from our readers. The person who wrote Agent Orange inspired me to create a demon story for the creative project. I integrated a few ideas from my religion and Chinese background into my demon story. My family conducts religious rituals such as the burning of joss paper and offers foods and fruits to the dead. Every Chinese-Vietnamese New Year, we light firecrackers and have large feasts. Twice a day, my family prays and lights incense candles on the family alters to honor our ancestors and dead family members. I chose to draw a demon story for my creative project because I tend to doodle on my notes during class. Using the characters I drew I utilized them into my demon story. It took me awhile to get started. I printed several pages of blank PDF comic book frames and drew one page. From there I didn’t know where to go and spent most of my time starting at a blank page. I had writer’s block and went days without thinking about the project.  I originally planned to use Adobe Illustrator but became frustrated with the tools and decided to hand-draw the demon story.

After watching a film starring Asian-Canadians about a Chinese folk culture I was nearly halfway finished. The film centered on a Chinese folk culture “Ghost Month” which is similar to Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos, in other words the “Chinese Halloween”. After the film, I had several ideas flowing through my head. The challenging part was getting my ideas on paper. Drawing each frame and creating dialogue. I wasn’t sure how to stretch a short story into at least 40 frames. I didn’t know how to develop a storyline and pretty much figured it out as I went along. I wasn’t sure what dialogues were appropriate and what was. I feel that had I planned a storyboard my demon story would have been a lot better. Writing the demon story I learned that many ideas may bloom when you least expect it. I was frustrated and given up on creating a plot for my comic so I turned on the television.

I feel that my project could’ve been better had I used Adobe Illustrator and managed my time better. Had I started earlier, my demon story would’ve been less sloppy and clearer and colored. I changed the plot of my demon story halfway through which was why it was somewhat hard to follow and sloppy. I feel that my demon story title doesn’t fit the storyline. If I could change one thing it would be the title. I chose to draw demon story since I find it much easier to develop a storyline for it than film or spoken word. I feel that the creative project gives up the opportunity to express ourselves. Although I dislike class projects, I’m glad that we were assigned it.

So three men who desire larger penises are in a plastic surgeon’s office. Thick the Texan and Rodney talk and the Terminator came up. Arnold bulked up using steroids and as a result he had major penis shrinkage. Thick assured Rodney that Dr. U had done a fantastic job on Arnold.  Rodney, a recent Chinese immigrant says “In Chinese we say “Dai Lop Churng.” translated to English (literally) means big sausage.”. He wants a larger penis to attract and develop a relationship with white women since he see’s relationships with Chinese girls as too traditional.  Homme, an African American  shows up late and what do you know, he’s there for a penis enlargement. But there’s a double-blow. He’s related to Rodney. Anyhow this Act instills a few stereotypes and strengthens a desire many men have. People should stop trying to change their physical-attributes unless they’re really that shallow and need a self-esteem boost.

Jack, Harry, and Tom are thee anorexic sumo wrestlers. All three diet, train, and travel to participate in competitions. One night Linda, Jack’s girlfriend left him. She baked him six meatloaf and left. She was tired of Jack’s constant traveling and wanted a stable relationship. So the pair of three are bulking up on Chinese food and preparing for competition. Okay…this play didn’t grab onto me as the other scripts had. They’re three skinny Asian men who needs to get fatter. So what. Why would you intentionally eat yourself to obesity? Is their goal to achieve “youngest cardiac arrest?” Phss.

Ahh, Chinatown…the perfect place to buy a genuine Gucci bag 80% off. What the fuck!? Lady, come on. If your stupid enough to purchase a counterfeit designer bag believing it was real maybe you should keep it a hush hush and save yourself the embarrassment. You deserved it for being a dumb ass. And racist cop, “Repeat after me…” “This time as if your in Chinatown.” “Please try again as a Chinese person.” you deserve to get shot. What if he was born and raised in the U.S. and has no accent? What’s he suppose to do? Mimic one? The lights fade and behind a white screen reveals three Chinese food deliverymen singing a Capella song. Hmm another good reason that the cop should get arrested…for being a dumb ass.

What the feezy!? So members of the LGBT community of Desi decent are discriminating a person because he isn’t Desi by blood. So Gilbert is a White-American born in India and chosen a Desi name. At the G.A.Y.W.A.D. support group, they don’t allow him into their circle. If they want others to be accepted others, they must open their doors and allow any person to join. They want a “safe place” where LGBT can gather and discuss their problems without being judged. Seems hypocritical, they’re judging Gilbert and shut him out every time he attempts to join the conversation. Their safe place is only a safe place for Desis.
